Membrane Filter Press

A membrane press is identical to a standard filter press except that the chambers (area between the plates) have membranes to squeeze out excess water from the slurry.
In Palm oil Refinery and down stream fractionation and specialty fats processing industry, the fully automated side bars designed membrane filter presses are used to separate various types of Palm stearine from Palm olein in crystallised slurry palm oil fractionation processes. The application of various designed membrane filter press are as below:

The 8 bars press is used for normal Palm oil fractionation processes to produce normal palm olein of Iodine value (IV) of 56, super palm olein with Iodine value (IV) of 60, 62 and 65 using air squeezing. However, the press can also be made suitable for liquid squeezing if need is required.
The 16 bars press can be used for normal Palm oil fractionation processes to produce normal palm olein of Iodine value (IV) of 56, super palm olein with Iodine value (IV) of 60, 62 and 65. In these application, the yield of various olein extracted is at least 2% higher compared to 8 bars air squeezing membrane filter press. In this press, the medium for squeezing is liquid.
It is also used to fractionate palm stearine to produce very hard stearine with iodine value (IV) range from 11 to 16, or melting point of 59 to 61 degree C. A numbers of useful products can be produced using this 16 bars membrane filter press.
The 30 bars presses are designed to separate crystallised Palm Kernel oil into palm kernel olein and palm kernel stearine. The good palm kernel stearine with iodine value (IV) of less than 7 produced is a good raw materials for processing cocoa butter substitute.
This press is also used to separate different types of crystallised palm oil slurry into the designated Palm Mid-fractions with relevant technical specification for specific applications.
